What is another word for "straight acting"?
Post Body

Fort hose that don't know, the term "straight acting" is considered offensive (in the gay community) to those who do not identify with this term.

I was thinking about this last week after watching the South Park episode that featured Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.

Mr Garrison complaining that straight people are stealing gay culture by dressing well, taking better care of themselves and speaking in a stereotypical/ effeminate "gay voice".

I understand this is supposed to be "Metrosexual" (apart from the voice, possibly). The opposite of this is supposedly "retrosexual"

Retrosexual has the opposite problem as "Straight acting". It sounds needlessly denigrating towards those that DO identify with it. It's also supposed to apply specifically to straight men.

So... is there a less offensive term that refers specifically to gay men that identify with a hetero normative lifestyle?

It feels unreasonable to take offense with "straight acting" if you don't have an equivalently descriptive alternative.

Update: So I get that non flamboyance doesn't necessarily NEED a label but being humans we do like to label everything.

And there's definitely a section of the gay community that subscribes specifically to this lifestyle. (Go to a gay biker bar, or somewhere similar). These people are (generally) only looking to date like-minded individuals because that's what they find attractive.

It would be miles easier to say your looking for (descriptive term here) men rather than offending people describing all the types you're NOT into.

If you say "traditionally masculine" that's offensive, because you are defining masculinity.

For reference, I'm a gay man. Happily partnered the last couple years. Haven't been on the apps but I don't think the app culture has changed that drastically.
