Why is some ice slippery and some not?
Post Body

So, I’m currently taking care of some elderly family members and they are on self-prescribed house arrest because of all the snow and ice. I’ve been in and out of the house and noticed two patches of ice right next to each other out the back door. One is thin and brittle, kind of like ice chips you get at a restaurant and it’s slick as well.... ice. Haha. The other patch of ice is a bit thicker (I’d say 5 or 6mm thick) and when I tried to slide on it, my foot stopped abruptly like it was regular concrete and I fell. Why is that?
