Guy tried to overcharge me for something. How should I proceed?

Don't know if this belongs in this subreddit, but it is a question.

I wanted to get some basketball shoes for a friend of mine and someone I knew told me he could sell his to me to save me money from having to buy new shoes. He tells me the shoes go for $160 but he can give them to me for $110 (used shoes keep that in mind).

After doing some research I find the shoes here for $70.

Would the best thing to do be show him the pictures and get the shoes for their real resell price or say fuck him and just buy the shoes new so he doesn't get the money?
