For context, I live in the West Midlands and sound completely different to people who live a 30 minute drive from me (probably less) - some people would say I have a Brummie (Birmingham) accent (I definitely don’t but we won’t get into local discrepancies on this post).
Just to throw other random accents out there that you may have heard of there is Scouse (Liverpool), Geordie (Newcastle), Cockney (London), Manc (Manchester) and Yorkshire (Leeds/Sheffield etc). This is a super simplified selection of accents but I tried to pick some that you may have heard of.
Do these sound the same to you because you don’t hear the regionalised differences on a daily basis or is it quite easy to spot the difference between each?
When I watch American shows for example, in general the accent sounds pretty similar 90% of the time.
