Why don’t stove tops have built in timer kill switches?
Post Body

People forget things on a hot stove all the time, it’s a serious hazard. An unwatched stove could waste energy, cause a fire, or even release toxic gas if the pot/pan has a teflon coating. Most other modern appliances have built in safety features, why don’t modern stove tops have a timer dial that turns off the stove if not reset after a certain period? Most folks probably wouldn’t even need to use the stove long enough to reset the “kill switch” timer, but if they were to forget or for some other reason be unable to turn off the stove it would prevent the issue all together. Any reason why this isn’t a thing?
