Help identifying Nismo part!

Hey guys. My mate recently picked up a Japanese import S15 Spec-R. It's been fitted with an aftermarket differential that's adjustable. Previous owner knows bugger all about it, and so do we!
We seem to have found an electronic Nismo diff controller, can somebody please help us identify what the hell it is and what style of diff it is intended for?
The one is the car is very obviously locked up to spin both wheels but the previous owner says we can adjust it using this....thing.
