First of all , Nintendo is Definatelly is going to release a new home console. There is no future support for wii u (except BotW) and it is highly unlikebly for Nintendo to leave this market . Secondly it seems that 3ds is not going to be discontinued . So Based on the things we learned about NX i made this speculation : Nintendo NX Gaming Platform will have Tri-Fold aspects

1) Home Console : As a stand alone console it will not be something special , near PS4 power wise. BUT it will have the ability to gain in perfomance through network connection , either through a central Nintendo Server , or (and) connecting with other Nintendo home consoles making network "Hives" . So it could have great perfomance in a fraction of the cost. I Believe the console will be Cheap , and you will have options to "buy" extra prossesing . The controller it will be something totally new , a callback to Gamecube controller , but the Gimmick will be that it can be transformed to your need . It maybe has to combined elements left-right , and you can join them in different ways , separate them, twist them and performe differently. Also this two elements could be fitted to the new 3dsNX.

2)3ds has a strong market place and it would be stupid to kill the goose with the golden eggs. But because future bellong to the ones that prepare it , Nintendo is going to make a revision to 3ds . So there will be a 3dsNX edition with a high resolution screen this time . It will be fully compatible with 3ds and ds. It will have two modes . The 3ds and NX mode. The 3ds mode it will have lower graphics , that it could be supported from 3dsNX CPU and lower consuption. The NX mode (with NX wireless connection ) will provide superior graphics , you could use 3dsNX as a gamepad, you could play on tv the 3ds game you have, or play an NX game on your 3dsNX. The 3dsNX will have 3G and GPS.

3)Nintendo Galaxy : The Nintendo online service. So i believe that nintendo will start to offer its games to PC's . It's really a great loss for nintendo that every pc user can play it's olders games with out earning a cents. So a service that you could remote play Nintendos games , and if your pc is capable to remote play evev NX titles , it's not a bad idea. I imagine an NX portal that a pc user could use to remote play NX games and older Nintendo Games.
