I know Danzo is written to be a unlikable character but if you really analyze him he is pretty cool and here is why

A lot of people think Danzo just a power hungry asshole but in reality everything he did was for the sake of the village. He is not without flaws but that makes him more human

For example he killed Shisui and took his Sharingan. At face value this seems like a dick move because he wanted to acquire a Mangekyo Sharingan but when you think about it it makes sense. Shisui’s plan would never have worked. This is touched on a little bit I the light novels but if Shisui used a Kotoamatsukami on Fugaku the Uchiha would either kill or banish Fugaku and choose a leader who was in support of the coup de ta. So then rather than have Shisui squander such an OP ability just to delay the inevitable why not take the eye and put it to better use. And he actually did put it to good use because with the help of Orochimaru he improved the charge time from 10 years to 1 day

He also represents the Darker side of the government. The things that go on behind the scenes that nobody talks about. For example Danzo worked with Hanzo to take out Nagato and the early Akatski. It’s in the best interest of Danzo to take out the Akatski because there was a possibility that they grew stronger and could eventually become a threat to the leaf. Plus in doing so he befriended Hanzo and would have made the Rain Village an ally of the leaf The Us government has done similar stuff in terms of arming smaller countries with weapons and sometimes men in order the fight wars that have nothing to do with the US. These types of behind the scenes things help create allies for the leaf and eliminate potential threats before they get to powerful

Not saying Danzo is perfect but there is a plan behind everything he does. He’s the guy that took care of the nasty stuff behind the scenes. Protecting a Konaha from behind the scenes. And I admire him for that
