I joined the Discord on day 2, excited to see what hot mess would entail. As the heading suggests, there was not a torrent of dickpics and misogynistic frustration about the lack of attention. There was only an endless trail of new members joining the server and occasionally waving at themselves.

Early in the chat, there were concerns about the need for channels to direct chats to hookups, memes, and general chats. But the one person who could change that hasn't been online since fixing a glitch on day 1. Or they have some really sadistic mods.

It hasn't been all bad. There were some solid attempts to get a chat topic going and a few folks DM'd me to have a chat... That really could have been had in the server if I'm honest.

I saw that this idea had some potential. So much so, that I reposted the invite link (only to have it suppressed because I hadn't actually joined this sub). Unfortunately it wasn't enough.

Because it launched with no channels on the server, there was no direction for enthusiastic users to take when chatting. This resulted in most people's second message being, "What is this?" or "Why are we even here?"

Overall, the server is populated by people too dumb to cause any trouble, yet, otherwise, not literate enough to organise themselves for effective communications.
