Advice for working in USA

My husband and kids are Canadian and live in Canada now. My husband spent a few years in the States as a student. We’d both like to move to the states just for a few years just for the experience. We don’t want to stay permanently. We just would like to go work there for a few years and then come back. What would be our immigration options?
And what if one of us were to go back to school there for a masters, could the other work while the one is in school?
