A heads up to anyone who replaces their custom Moto X through their carriers insurance program

My Moto X was recently stolen. Luckily I have the phone insured, the deductible was a bit more than what I expected but its better than paying $600 for it. Anyways, the insurance company told me that I could only choose from the white or black phone. Prior to speaking with them I chatted with an online support rep at Motorola and asked if my phone was being replaced by the insurance company, if I would be able to trade it in to customize my phone. They told me yes.

I'm receiving my phone today and decided to contact Motorola as to the process of trading in a phone for a customized one. They informed me that it was not possible for me to exchange my plain black phone for my customized Moto X.

This confirms my initial fears I had about the customized phones. As a business owner, I feel like Motorola/Google could keep their customized customers happier by extending the same 14 day limited exchange warranty to their customers who replace the stolen or damaged phones.
