Is gunlance any good in high rank? (MHW)

I love using gunlance but im on the part where i have to hunt a pink rathian and its rediculous. Even with defence up she can one shot me if im slightly off and my attacks seem too slow to safely do damage? Is gunlance just a meme and not really fesiable late game?
