SoMI SE background issue?

I've encountered an error(maybe?) with the background art of SoMI:SE where there are pixels from the classic version mixed in with the special edition art. Thankfully I've already played the VGA version previously so it's no deal ender, but I can't seem to find anyone talking about this in reviews of the game. Is this a bug or just rushed artwork? Has anyone else encountered this? Or is this only on PC Steam?
