Hi I have a little dilemma and I hope someone can help.
My mum is in a nursing home. They provide wifi as part of her staying there however Mum's Alexa, which is in our family group, doesn't work so we have set up a 4g netgear modem with a phone sim so that she may still stay connected even when she may no longer be able to use a phone.
Problem is the modem either shuts down or disconnects and the Alexa goes off line and the only way to fix it is for me to go around and reset the modem. I don't live far away but my sister does and Mum had also accidentally put her ringtone on silent so it was a little bit of a stressful night.
Anyway, do we need to buy a new 5g modem or is the issue that I've put a sim in which is a phone sim, for example, would a data only sim work? Also the modem is about 10 years old and is a Netgear and does display that it connects to 4gx/5g oh and its with Vodafone which has 5g available where Mum lives. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
