/u/Fresh3001 today announced that, in conjunction with his colleagues in the Opposition, he would be fundraising for a private relief fund for those New Zealanders who will be affected by Cyclone Ella. He gave the following speech to members of the media on the steps outside Parliament today.

“Yeah, gidday. I’m here today to announce that, alongside my colleagues in the Opposition, I will be establishing a private relief fund for the benefit of the Kiwis that are bound to be desperately affected by the income Cyclone Ella. The Cyclone Ella Relief Fund is asking for donations from more fortunate Kiwis, and Kiwi businesses, to help out those in the way of the storm. Money raised by the fund prior to the arrival of Cyclone Ella will be used in storm preparation - helping community groups distribute food and other supplies, and setting up sandbags to protect homes from flooding and water damage. After the storm hits we will direct funds where the government needs it - distributing more supplies, helping to set up portable generators, toilet and shower facilities, and helping in the reconstruction of homes and infrastructure where able.

“I will be fundraising across the country with my colleagues in the Opposition, and I invite members of the government to do so also should they not be busy in their response to Cyclone Ella. People may be aware that ACT has headquarters and an office in Auckland and Tauranga respectively, and myself and /u/Mattsthetic reside in those areas also - I promise that my contribution of $10,000 to the fund is not in self-interest. I call on all Kiwis that can spare a dollar or more, to make a donation to the fund and help out those who need it. Thank you all.”
