Multiple files with editing restricted

I have about 125 individual Word files that I would like to combine into a single PDF with Acrobat Pro.
The problem is that editing in each Word file is not allowed. So I need to open each file in Word, turn editing on, and save the file. I did this for about 20 files and started to lose my mind.
Is there any work-around? I would like to avoid dealing with each file if I can.
