Leave it to the Germans to grotesquely describe that Sugar Ray song, left on auto-repeat, in the CD player of your mind as an “Earworm.” What is one to do when the vocal stylings of such an “Earworm” interrupt one’s meditation session?
Shall we launch up and off our folded yoga blanket, to dance and sing with wanton abandon, about one’s flat, in a manner: scattered and childish? Are we to indulge our controlling tendencies and strive to suppress the “Earworm” while our facial expression and our complexion describe a constipated fellow, at war with his feces?
What could the middle path, in this situation, look like? The experience of an “Earworm” is indeed energetic, and like all energy it could be harnessed, and applied, and benefited from. As you sit cross legged, inwardly dancing to your “Earworm” apply that energy to the mental contemplation of stress, change, and NOT-self in the form of rhetorical questions.
Alternate between these contemplations and simply relaxing into the non-graspable nature of mind and you too could meditate like a Jedi. _/\_
