Holding close tolerances on a lathe.
Post Body

I work in a job/prototype shop. It’s a medium size shop. We do a lot of close tolerance work and about 3 or four months ago we had an aluminum housing that had a .0002 total tolerance on a diameter. They asked me to finish it and I nailed it. Looking back I should have scrapped the piece because now I’m getting asked to finish all kinds of close work that should probably go to the grinder. Are you guys holding that tolerance on a lathe or maybe even closer?
