Why good throw = close call?

Post Body

I like the new game but I'm curious on one particular issue that I'm noticing that keeps coming up is why would a person that makes a good throw in the green to the first baseman does it seem to be a very close call and almost pulls the first baseman off the bag even though you're making a very good throw?

I'm making good throws a lot of times and it still seems to be pulling the first baseman off first base and almost costing the runner to become safe. Is there something else I could possibly be doing on my PlayStation other than making the timing of the throw correct in the green?
