Hello everyone. Sorry that I have left it so late. Tomorrow, Lancashire faces a choice. A choice between moderate commonsense policy and radicalism. Between a campaign of slander and false assumptions and a campaign of hope. Here in Lancashire South, you have a choice between me and the radical single issue candidate /u/DF44. You have a choice between his scaremongering and our hope. A choice between chaos and strong economy. A choice between strong environmental protections and… strong environmental protections.

DF44 is running here on a single issue ticket. And his cause is a worthy one: to take radical action on the climate. However he is not the only candidate running on that ticket. I too believe that climate change is the biggest threat to humanity that this world has ever faced. I too believe in radical solutions to tackle climate change The Conservative Party would end coal consumption by or hopefully before 2030, we would invest in greener sources of fuel such as wind, hydroelectric, nuclear, solar and more. We would introduce a carbon tax to make people pay for what they pollute. We merged the departments of Climate Change and Business so we could work with business to properly regulate it and come up with innovative solutions to tackle climate change. As DF44 himself said, the largest 100 companies account for 71% of industrial carbon emissions. So surely that is the first place to start when tackling climate change, as it is the easiest to eliminate. After leaving the EU, we will not weaken environmental regulations, in fact we will strengthen them.

So now that myth is out of the way, let’s talk about other things that a Conservative government will do to help you. We will invest in public transport to make sure that you get where you can go more quickly, and cut commute times. We will allow you to keep more of what you earn by keeping tax low. We will keep alive the dream of home ownership by supporting Help to Buy and right to buy. We will protect our nuclear deterrent, and make sure we retain our influence on the world stage. We will oppose unwanted calls for further unwanted devolution, both nationally and regionally in the North West.
