Labour's first Press Release | Leadership Election Shenanigans & more!
Post Body

Haven’t we been sneaky? Whilst you’ve all been pottering on about the Tory Leadership and Green dilly dallying (with some terrorists thrown in for good measure), we’ve been holding a very exciting Leadership and Deputy Leadership election! For Leader, we only had one choice, our beloved triforce, although the speaker kindly put RON (reopen negotiations) on the ballot sheet also, who seems to have been a big hit. For Deputy Leader, we had inaugural holder of the position DesertFox, myself, RachelChamberlain and new member DELB.

A breakdown of the results can be found here.

The whole Labour party is delighted that Rachel has been elected and that Desertfox has been re elected to be the Deputy Leaders, and that triforce is unsurprisingly our new Leader.

regioisomer decided not to run for the position, stating ‘I don't think the party is plagued by the same circumstances that led to my election in the first place, so I feel my mandate has expired in that regard. That aside, I feel there are members who contribute more than I and deserve a place in the leadership more than I do. As for who I had in mind as ideal replacements, I'll just say I'm happy with the selection of candidates.’ He has been commended by all members as a superb deputy leader, and he has said he plans to stay in the party as an MP.

In terms of legislation, there are several up and coming bills and motions from the Labour Party, relating to advertising, helium and ministerial powers. Our most recent motion, created by newbie tomtom_98, has provided the house with some thoughtful discussion, even if some suggestions were a little… odd. The party has also seen a slight surge in members lately, possible due to the Rachel’s excellent designing or right wing dupes, but if the latter were true then surely our fabulous leadership election would’ve been leaked? Either way, the next election we hope to be very successful, with the party once again fielding candidates in all constituencies.

This is the first of many more Labour Press posts, although I can't promise there will be something as exciting as an election at every one. Thanks for reading, I'm off camping now.
