The Commonwealth Freedom of Movement Treaty Ratification Motion 2016

A motion declaring the support and will of this House for the ratification, in full, of the Commonwealth Freedom of Movement Treaty, in tandem with the other respective countries in said treaty.

This House declares that:

(1) the Commonwealth Freedom of Movement Treaty is a welcome step.

(2) such an agreement would be beneficial for the economy of the United Kingdom,

and that:

(3) the Secretary of State for the Home Department should ratify in full the Commonwealth Freedom of Movement Treaty in the event of the passage of this Motion.

(4) the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom should also sign and approve such a treaty.

(5) the United Kingdom and its House of Commons supports the establishment of a treaty organisation for the matter.

and that, ultimately,

(6) the Treaty has the confidence of this House,

(7) it is the will of this House that the Treaty should be implemented,

(8) disregarding the will of this House would be wrong.
