Access to Medical Treatments (Innovation) Bill
Section 2(1)
Replace “(a) innovative medical treatments carried out by doctors in England, and” with “(a) innovative medical treatments carried out by healthcare professionals, and”
Section 3
Replace “(1) In section 2, “doctor” means a registered medical practitioner.” with “In section 2, “healthcare professionals” means a qualified professional registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, General Medical Council or the relevant regulator for their role.
Reason: Medical treatments are often carried out by a wide range of staff within the NHS and not just by doctors
Section 3
Remove “(6) Nothing in section 2 applies in relation to treatment which is carried out solely for cosmetic purposes.”
