So for the previous 3 days, I participated in a Reddit community mock draft on Discord where every team had their own war rooms and GMs. In this particular mock draft, you were allowed to trade players, picks, future picks and so forth just like in real life. You would negotiate and talk to other GMs through discord. I was the GM of the Rams and had only 1 other person in the war room with me. We had 2 different approaches to this draft... play it conservative and draft with the picks the Rams had, or be a bit aggressive and try some unique trade because... well why the hell not, its a fantasy mock draft. So here is a quick rundown of the moves we made and the pick explanations.
Draft player/pick trades
- Traded Gerald Everett, TE to Patriots for 5th round pick, #179 & conditional 2021 5th
- We never even had Everett on the GE on the trade block but people were wanting him. We lacked a 5th round pick and wanted to free up some space in for cap room, the Patriots gave us the best offer, with the emergence of Higbee we decided to pull the trigger on the offer.. it was honestly the only trade that was the hardest to make
- Traded our 3rd round pick, #84 to the Browns for Kareem Hunt
- Now the war room had planned on using on of our 3rd picks on a running back anyways. We decided on going for Hunt, who is 24 years old; was the NFL rushing leader his rookie year and the cap hit was small. We figured we knew what were getting with Hunt not a mystery with some rookie. His numbers dont say much but he was suspended in 18 and split carries in 19 with Chubb on an offense that under performed.
- Traded CB Darious Williams to Browns for 7th round pick, #227
- We already have a small corner in David Long Jr. and we went ahead and drafted a big corner in the draft.
- Traded 7th round pick, #234 to Carolina for Joey Slye
- We made this trade before we signed the CFL kicker, but good competition
- Traded Picks #57 & #52 for #27 & 214
- We felt like being aggressive because why the fuck not, we traded both 2nds for a 1st and a 6th
THE DRAFT
- 1.27- Kenneth Murray, MLB Oklahoma
- We jumped one spot ahead of Baltimore to steal Murray, they drafted Queen. We felt middle linebacker was our biggest need. If you look at our current depth chart, MLB is just awful... Kiser (who is unknown), Kenny Young (eh), and Troy Reeder (didnt play well imo). We needed a stud middle linebacker who could compete for that starting job and we felt he could contribute on day 1. This wasn't a deep middle linebacker class and we snagged arguably the best one
- 3.104- Jack Driscoll, OT/OG Auburn
- Jonah Jackson was the pick here, but he got snagged a couple picks ahead. Driscoll was the best offensive line available at this point. He started all games in Auburn at RT in 19. He was solid and can move to RG. We need all the depth we can get on the offensive line
- 4.126- Thaddeus Moss, TE LSU
- Replacement for Everett; Moss was dominant in the CFPs, hes a very raw specimen with a small sample size. We believed given the right system and being surrounded by talent and Sean McVay, he could flourish. Plus McVay loves his tight ends and hes the son of the greatest WR to ever play (arguably). Probably a reach or unpopular pick but I love Thad.
- 5.179- Trey Adams, OT Washington
- A poor combine and some past injuries have definitely hurt his draft stock, but hes a huge dude and when healthy he was a beast at Washington. Again another depth piece that can develop as a backup.
- 6.199- Jake Luton, QB Oregon State
- We needed a backup QB, and he was the best available at 6.199. There was some hilarious pressure to take Shea Patterson but he's straight trash. We felt strong with the Luton pick.
- 6.214- Neville Clark, CB UCF
- We already had two small corners in David Long and Darious Williams so we dealt away Williams and wanted to get a larger, more physical corner for depth.
- 7.227- Omar Bayless, WR Arkansas St.
- Omar in the 7th was a steal IMO, he has crisp route running skills and can stretch the field. Hes no Brandon Cooks but hes got good hands and speed
- 7.229- Francis Bernard, Edge/DL Utah
- At one point in time last year, Bernard was pegged to be a 1st/2nd round talent; at this point it was BPA and took a shot on Bernard

So tell me what you think even if its horrible. It was the first community draft I have ever done and had a lot of fun doing it. So I highly recommend. I did this post because well I'm bored as hell and wanted to get your insight. The draft is less than a week away and it will put this one to shame but it was nice being Snead for a couple days. haha
Go Rams! and fuck the logo
