The 2024 Annual LonghornNation Weight Loss Challenge: Ok, cool. Lose 'em.

Welcome to the annual /r/LonghornNation Weight Loss Challenge!

Now in our seventh year, we're continuing the American tradition of taking on resolutions until we don't feel like doing them anymore, because that's what winners do.

We are a little late in starting this year, but no worries, just means the stakes to lose pounds are even higher than before, so get sweating! The rules will be the same as they've been in the past:

Initial weigh-ins are due at 5:00 Tower Time (Central) on Friday, January 12th and must be posted to the tracking sheet, including an imgur link of your scale for proof. Initial weigh-ins can be done anytime between the posting of this thread and the designated due date, so if you want to weigh earlier in the week and get a few days start on you weight loss, go for it. Just be honest with weigh-ins, this competition is ultimately for the benefit of those who want to participate to better their health, confidence, and/or other things and cheating helps no one.

Each following Monday we'll weigh in on the sheet again, no pictures required.

The end of the competition will be the Orange & White Spring Game, whose date is to-be-determined. The Friday before the game, all participants shall weigh in and include another imgur link of their scale for final weight totals to determine the winner of the competition.

Weight loss will be determined by %, not total pounds, to ensure as even of a playing field as possible.

You have the option of buying in to the prize: if you're interested in contributing $50 (we are doing one straight amount this year), just DM me for my Venmo (sorry, no paypal, cashapp, or zelle for this competition). I'll hold the money until the end of the competition, then pay out in 3 tiers (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) relative to the total pool. For example, in 2022, the $1000 total pool was split as follows: 1st-$500, 2nd-$300,-3rd $200.

If you would like to participate but don't want to be a part of the pool, just don't send money. Simple as that.

Prize entries must be collected by Friday, January 19th in order to be eligible.

Below is the link to the spreadsheet. Enter your username in Column A of the 2024 Weight Tracker tab, and bookmark the link for future entries.

An added bonus this year: for those who have other fitness and/or health goals for this year, there is an additional tab to share any accomplishments/milestones with people. I've added the first as an example. This is to allow more members to feel a part of the effort to improve ourselves even if they have different goals, and to help hype everyone up. Sore and just managed to get out of bed and get a 20 minute walk in? Log it, every accomplishment matters.

Good luck everyone! OU sucks!
