laserdisc audio issue

I just purchased a pioneer laserdisc player and i put the directors Cutt of scream in and it was very loud and staticky i hit the audio button and it went to left 1 and no static but it was just a commentary then I hit it again and it went to right 2 and it was also so staticky u couldn't hear the movie so i put in Jurassic park and it was perfectly fine does anyone know what the problem could possibley be
