Having Issues with PCE-CD emulation

I am setting up my Lakka install on a RPi3, and I have everything pretty much ironed out for most systems, but PC-Engine CD is still giving me issues. No matter what I run, the emulator never gets past the BIOS screen (using 3.0 version).

So I have a couple questions:

Does Mednafen_pce_FAST require specific image formats? I'm using .iso for my games.
Is there any option I should be changing for Japanese region games? I have not seen any region switching option so far.

Otherwise I'm at a loss. This is the only console that gives me any issues (PC-98 and X68k are another story).

EDIT: I just tried the same core and images on my PC (RA version 1.3.4) and it worked flawlessly. Does the Pi maybe just have issues with the core/system?
