I just need somebody to talk to me. I don’t know what had gotten into him! Today wasn’t a bad day, really. I went to work (for the short shift - morning). I took him for a car ride, we went to the dog park, ran a few errands, and then I did some chores around the house. I made dinner. He trolled around and was calm for most of the night, but as it got later (probably around 12:30-1am), he became hyper-vigilant and almost anxious. He didn’t want to sit still. He was constantly patrolling the backyard, which was weird because it was a very quiet night (I usually quiet for our town - not even any rustling in the bushes from any critters). I brought his bed outside so that he could lay down next to me while I chatted on the phone and smoked cigarettes, but that wasn’t even good enough, so I brought him inside and tried to cuddle in bed and even then, he couldn’t seem to relax! He usually hushes right up when I spoon him, but he could only seem to calm for a few minutes at a time before looking around and listening intently. Unfortunately, my grandma is the only one who has access to the outside cameras and she’s not online, so I assume she’s asleep, so I put him in a tight right heel and we did a quick sweep of the downstairs making sure that all of the doors were locked. I even looked out the front windows which are large (kind of like bay windows), but nothing really caught my attention. No strange cars on the street. No activity in front of the house or door. Not even the flood light was on. I double checked the locks on all the doors, turned on the hallway light so that he could watch me go potty from the safety of my bedroom doorway (I left my sliding glass door for last since we had just come in) and then I locked us all up and climbed into bed. He’s content now. He was able to jump right up, curl up, and fall asleep it seems, but y’all. He has never acted like that before. We live on the hills and have encountered tons of different animals and he’s never acted that way and especially for that long and he’s definitely never made me do a sweep like that. Now, I’m laying here with him asleep next to me and although I know he would protect me, I’m still feeling a bit anxious.
Would anyone be willing to talk to me for awhile, please?
