Want to start a base but I'm totally clueless how/where. (New player)

So I have a couple houses in a modded town, 4 followers, a research table, currently living in a town in heng. I want to start building a base. Any advice where I should travel to start? If possible I'd like a nice looking place that isn't a desert if such a place is in this game.
