Need advice on planning our trip from Airport to Kyoto

Hey everyone,

My partner and I are planning a trip to Japan in November and we want to do 4 days in Kyoto and 6 in Tokyo. We are tentatively planning on flying into Osaka International airport and catching a train straight to Kyoto. Google Maps suggests that this will take roughly an hour, but I just wanted to gauge how feasible this will be and if it is recommended? I also wanted to gauge whether it would be advisable to do a day trip in Osaka and then catch a train back to Kyoto in the evening? Would ideally love to stay in all three cities but that would push our budgets out slightly too far. Any advice or help would be really appreciated!
