Yesterday I came home from work (it was about 9pm) and my mom watches my daughter (2) for me every Thursday since I work late that one day of the week. Anyway I come home my daughter is asleep (her bedtime is 7) and my mom I can tell isnât all the way right, but she seems mostly normal so I thought it was just me. As she was leaving I noticed an empty bottle of vodka on the counter. So I asked her if she drank it she said yes there was only âa shot leftâ in it so it shouldnât be a big deal. I know there was more left in it but not much more and at this point Iâm starting to realize her ânot rightâ was bc she had been drinking. She had also drank some of the tequila I had in the freezer(just a shot she said) and I snapped at her that she should have let me know if she was going to be drinking.
She said it wasnât that much and Iâm overreacting. I told her it was the last of my vodka she could have at least asked me or let me know beforehand that she was going to drink it. Fight ensued upon this bc she said Iâm trying to âmake her feel bad for taking a shot of vodkaâ and then proceeded to try and throw money at me to âpay for the shotâ she took. I told her I had just wanted her to ask me before she just took something of mine and at this point sheâs raising her voice and Iâm getting irritated bc I donât want her to wake my daughter up with an unnecessary fight. We go outside and she tries to make me feel bad for making her cry over me just wanting her to ASK before she just takes my things. Her reasoning was I donât have to ask her before I take her things (I always have bc sheâs my mother and I respect her) so she shouldnât have to ask me. And as punishment sheâs no longer going to allow me to get certain items from her for free. I told her it was just disrespectful for her to come in and take what she wanted without letting me know first.
In the end she left crying (she had been crying since the beginning of the fight) after she threw the money at me and I called my sister who made me realize that for her to have been acting that way she had to have been drinking BEFORE picking my daughter up. Which just made my irritation worse.
Td;lr-my mother drank my alcohol without my permission and tried to make me feel bad for saying she should have asked me before taking my things
