Hello, I’ve been trying to figure out if I and my extended family are eligible for recognition of citizenship through descent of my great-grandfather. He was born in 1898. He emigrated from Italy to Canada sometime in the 1910s (1914, I believe), and we are unaware at the moment if he naturalised. He also changed his surname sometime around 1940. He was also never married my great-grandmother as he was married prior and never divorced.
My grandfather was born in 1950 and my mother was born in 1974. Should we be able to attain the necessary documents, including whether or not he naturalised, would we be eligible for recognition? Would this be a 1948 case? Thanks in advance.
