I think that if we ever want to move forward we need to be able to accept a few simple facts and move on from there.. I thought of a few and hoping people can react to those and add more possibly.
1) it doesn’t matter why or how israel came to be, israel is here now and it exists and will never dismantle. I know this might trigger people here but don’t you think that whatever happened happened already? It’s not realistic to hope israel will disappear.
2) Palestine as a country didn’t exist before but it doesn’t mean it can’t exist today, and it should exist as a country. This also might trigger some people, I meant here just that a country named Palestine never existed in history so the land wasn’t technically anyone’s.
3) israel is a Jewish country and has the right to stay that way.
4) a Palestinian country can exist in the West Bank and Gaza (possibly other land swaps) and it should exist.
5) both entities need to acknowledge each other and it’s right for self determination in the respective lands.
6) all talks about the British / UN 1948 should not matter anymore, it was generations ago and it happened.
7) the status qu is the worst thing for both of our nations.
