Renters Insurance Claim questions…

Post Body

Hi everyone. I’ve just filed my first claim. I haven’t even spoken to my adjuster yet. But I was hoping to get insights and understanding from those that don’t have a stake in this situation.

A pipe busted and water collected, destroying the ceiling above my bed. 2 inches of standing water. This was 3 weeks after I moved In. Some things are easy to account for — as far as damage is concerned.

What about damage that isn’t apparent now, but may be there? I had a room a that seems to still function; but I can’t see how it wasn’t impacted…and may have been. What about wood/cork furniture that still stands but probably has damage that will cause it to degrade more quickly over time? What about the hours of time ive spent constructing this stuff that comes in a box — should I be able to have it replaced as constructed? Should time be compensated? I’m going to need to stay somewhere else. And I’ll need to be able to work from that space. Can I get a room with a desk? Sorry for mess of questions. My mind’s going a mile a minute.
