Looking for Ice Auger advice……
Post Body

So my son is finally old enough to get out ice fishing. He loves all forms of fishing. For a reasonable price I’ve been able to accumulate a hub shelter, heater, rods and a sled. My dad gave me his old 6” manual auger and told me the blades were new when it was put away. They were not. We made our first trip out today, I spun that thing for 15 mins and got through 6 inches. I swallowed my pride and asked a guy near by if he would mind drilling us 4 holes with his 8” electric. He was great and saved our day. That thing drilled holes like a hot knife through butter. Now I don’t have budget left to go buy a new electric but can likely justify a couple hundred. I need something. So I see my options as…. 1. New blades and a drill adapter for this old 6”…..2. Buy a manual 8” with decent blades and get a drill adapter…. Or 3. Buy a used gas auger off local buy/sell…

Edit: I have a decent drill so that would not be an added cost.

Just looking for some input from people who have some experience. Thanks!
