Hello! I am an American seeking to attend graduate school abroad with the ultimate goal of becoming a citizen. I have no desire to come back and see graduate school as an opportunity to get my foot into the door of another country.
I have a BS in the STEM field, have been working at a well renowned university for nearly 2 years, and have received numerous certificates from said university. My professional experience primarily focuses on the use of mass spectrometry and related technologies in the discovery/analysis of proteins and natural products. I have shown a proficiency with such technology which I hope to be a strong selling point in my applications. Along with that has come a myriad of other laboratory experience. Given how relatively small niched scientific fields can be, I believe that I can receive good recommendations from my supervisors that can be recognized internationally.
I have not determined what exactly I wish to study in graduate school, but I am amendable on that subject. Where I wish to go will ultimately be determined by which university has a lab that specializes in my chosen field, so that is also to be determined. Mass spectrometry is an emerging technology, and its use is applicable to numerous fields, so it is my hope that this will make my application particularly strong. I had taken German all through high school but only for 2 semesters in college. I am willing to pick it back up or whichever language is required for my situation. It is my hope that graduate school will lead to permit residence and eventual citizenship. I am unsure if applying internationally is different as most of my colleagues only have experience domestically. It would only be me coming, and it is within my means to do so. However, I am trying to figure out where to start.
Thank you for any advice in advance!
Edit: spelling
