Just curious - Would it be worth it to learn a trade to stack on top of your IT skills or vice versa?
Post Body

I'm just mainly curious to see others input on this. After a few drinks the other night, my dad brought up to me that I should look into electrician programs/classes and that it could be really good to have both my IT background with the knowledge of being an electrician. I've been in IT for close to 10 years and I don't think I've met anyone with both set of skills. But I do see my father's point. Could be good to know for new build outs in buildings or if there is a power issue in a server room. Etc.

Does anybody in this subreddit have both sets of skill or if they have come across someone who does? What would be the benefits? Again, mainly curious.
