We interviewed this guy and were about to offer him a position for a technical role on a helpdesk
Last step was reference checks. It's a form that sent via email to referees to fillout and submit.
This form checks the IP of the device the form was submitted with.
We went back to HR to ask the applicant if there's anything he wanted to me too about his reference checks. He denied our accusations.
Until we showed them this and they openly admitted to forging the reference checks. For both references!
We retracted our offer after this incident occured
I have never come across this happening ever in my years of interviews. Really shows someone's character!
