New to the industry, and looking for pointers/advice

I’m 34 living in the upper Midwest. 2 hours from Chicago, one hour from Milwaukee. Gigs in my area are pretty regular and decent, the only problem is I am super new and need to work the hours to become union with my local.

I want to learn as much as I can and also not be in the way or look like an idiot. Looking for advise on ways to learn, make connections, etiquette, and stay on top of things.

My goal is to learn and become an asset without stepping on toes or getting in the way, in a relatively small-medium market.
