Holiday solo

I have started to holiday abroad on my own, the reason for this is because the couples I meet on holidays seem so much more relaxed.
I've met some lovely couples randomly at the hotel bar (perhaps it's the sun and the booze). Compared to the complications of finding couples at home.
I don't know if this is a common theme or not? Do couples find it easier to relax and enjoy the lifestyle while away on holiday?
