If condoms are required, Who is it for,,,Husbands or Wives ?

We have used both condoms and No condoms before and I'm wondering if the use of them is for the husband's agency or the Wife's ?
I'll try to explain what I mean .
If condoms are used with a 3rd is it because of safety of STI's ?
Let's say that's been addressed with testing and it's not a need for that reason.as all 3 are clean .
And condoms are used, is this for your husband so he doesn't touch the 3rd's cum ? Is hubby squeamish about a 3rd's cum , and that's why condoms are used?
Or is it cause the wife doesn't want a 3rd's cum on / in her
