So far, I’ve liked:
Cuckoo (I know it’s divisive but I loved how batshit ridiculous the plot was & the style)
Sleep (solid Korean horror film - not scary but has great performances and writing)
Oddity (enjoyed everything but that very last jump scare)
House of Spoils (look, it’s not scary and it’s kind of silly but it reminded me of like a made for tv horror movie I might’ve watched as a kid — there was something just fun about it)
Alien: Romulus (fun)
What You Wish For (contained and kept my interest)

What missed the mark for me so far:
Red Rooms (trying too hard to be meta and angry at the audience, in the end feels empty)
Longlegs (great opening, the rest fell apart for me)
All You Need is Death (such a cool concept but ugh it was so poorly executed)
AfrAId (the last act really tanked it)
I’m happy for people to disagree with me btw, I love having differing opinions on horror movies :) Looking forward to seeing your list for 2024 releases.
