Hi everyone, I live in a 2 story home with my computer upstairs almost on the opposite corner of my house from the downstairs router. I have very high ping when others are using devices on the network (aside from myself almost everyone streams), and even when I am the only one on late at night I experience dropped connections from time to time. I am on a desktop currently with a decent wifi dongle for connection to the network, but plan on installing a legitimate wifi card in the near future. What I would like to know is if there is anything I can do to fix this ping issue when others are on the network. I have already upgraded our internet service from 60 to 75mbps and that's supposed to go into effect with an upgraded router being installed in a week in a half or so from now. Aside from that though I am considering buying our own router for the home with the hopes that it will make my connection from my current location upstairs to the router downstairs more stable, but I am unsure if it will be able to do anything in terms of helping the ping issues when multiple other devices are streaming on the network. I am also looking in to wifi extenders as an added solution, and considering buying a set to run towards my location specifically to help things out. I have seen devices with Ethernet ports on the extenders and am wondering if this is something that would be a worthwhile investment since I cant practically run an Ethernet cord from one corner of my house to the other. In all of these things (a new router, wifi card, and extenders) which do you all think will be the most effective? And are there any specific devices you would recommend? Sorry for the lengthy post, but I hope I can get some input on this whole situation and how to make the internet usable around the home.
