Is IUD replacement like getting a new IUD or does it kind of pick up where you left off?

Post Body

When I first got my IUD, I was super crampy and spotty for the next few days/weeks. Over the course of the next few months, I noticed quite a few weird changes (odor, mood, pain, spotting, etc.) that seemed to stabilize slowly over time. I felt mostly normal after about a year of having it in. After about 2 years of having it in, my periods slowly started to get lighter. Now, they're the lightest they've ever been.

When it's time, I want to get my IUD replaced. I'm wondering if my body will notice the change and make me go through the same not-so-fun phases that I went through the first time, or if will not notice the change and everything will just carry on as if the same IUD was still in.

Also, I have the mirnea.
