I got this game several years ago but my first playthrough was done super casually. I really like the atmosphere, the story, and the replayability. After a couple of years playing disappointing MMOs, I decided to dip my toes into Cairn once again, with a new character.

I have never encountered any Nemesis champions before and so, imagine my surprise when I decided to oblige my girl Anasteria with what I thought would be a small yet seemingly harrowing task that would make her like me more. Instead, I ended up being relentlessly hunted by some guy named Grava'Thul.

I was only supposed to get this shard from a dungeon with a rather intimidating name - Bastion of Chaos. Cool, I thought. I got my hands on said shard like the helpful citizen of a war-torn world that I am, but also decided to go deeper into the dungeon, because what else can you do when you see a portal to a deeper level?

At the last level, just as I was sure I was almost done clearing the level, a giant skull appeared on my minimap and it was at that moment that I realized I might have gotten myself mixed with something way more than I bargained for. I think it was the sound, and the way he just moves so fast, and the giant dreadful icon. It did something to my brain.

I gathered my wits by reminding myself that I have killed thousands of his kin (which, now that I think about it, is why he came after me in the first place) and I could cut through just one more, no matter how difficult it may seem. And difficult it was! He had so much HP and he hits so hard and I think that place doesn’t let me heal when I am kiting! It took a lot of IRL yelping and grunting and begging for him to die already.

I can’t wait for the next one.
