Possibly Stupid Question: Convert a HC character to Softcore?

So I am curious, is there a way via a save editor or any in game method, to convert a character from Hardcore down to Softcore? I am really enjoying this HC character I have, its my first, and frankly I am a wee bit nervous of losing them XD
So I am wondering, if its possible to change em over to SC at some point via some method, whether its a utility or mod, or if there is an in game (doubtful) way.
