My friend and I picked this game up yesterday and played for a few hours. Neither of us played they story mode, which is what teaches the mechanics. We played the forest, which doesn't really hold your hand so we figured it would be fine. The learning curve is steep, and we have looked up some recipes, but it has been fun. But I have a few questions if you don't mind:
Do the tribesmen attack on a schedule? We died a lot getting to where we wanted to setup camp, so a few game days passed. We finally get to the waterfall, start building, then 4 tribesmen roll up, kill my friend, destroy the few things we had built, including the bed, then killed me. We basically are starting fresh. Would it be benificial to just restart from day 1 and make it to the waterfall now that we have a better grasp of how to get there? Or are their attacks random and we got unlucky?
Is there any way to keep them out of our area? I don't see any specific defense systems, and they ripped through the small house we had up, so it doesn't seem like walls would do much to stop them.
Is there anything vital we missed out on by not playing story mode? We have been looking up recipes and are doing trial and error on edibles, which isn't too bad. But is there something that's not obvious that we may be missing and probably won't stumble upon easily?
Thank you!
