I’m by no means a Rodgers hater. The man has been a God at QB for 15 years. He’s restored glory to the franchise & he’s a top 5 QB all time. He should be welcomed for the rest of his years with the utmost adoration by all Packer backers. Grateful is how I’ll feel to him for being our guy.
But his time is done. I’m not overreacting and anointing Love to be the next great thing after he looked nice for one quarter, that’s not what this is. 12 has straight up played bad two consecutive playoffs in a row. He looked terrible prior to the thumb. I threw a lot of shade since the Giants game, which now with the benefit of hindsight you can see that it was the thumb. He gutted it out, much credit and love there. Bigger problem as I see it, is that just doesn’t want to stay within Matt’s offense. He doesn’t want to run motion & I think it’s obvious he’s still out there calling his own shots. Then there’s the negative aura. Dude has been out there pointing the finger at everyone while he’s played below average QB the entire year. The team has no juice and they have not been playing with heart. It doesn’t matter if 10 is the future, 12 clearly is not. And he sure as hell isn’t worth $50 million a year.
It was my belief playing armchair GM, that taking the Russell Wilson deal for Aaron (two 1sts, two 2nds) and then some would’ve been the smart move last offseason. It was clear because you saw last year that if the team was going to win deep it would be because the defense played like it did vs SF in the divisional round this season & rose to a top 5 unit (that’s a different rant) Rodgers can still play, not saying he can’t. But you could’ve LOADED the roster without his bloated contract & with 10 on the rookie deal. After a season like this, running it back with Aaron is really not the answer. Take the highest bid. See if you can get Vrabel or Tomlin to bite. Two firsts, done. Thanks for the memories Aaron.
