Getting an MPH?

Post Body
So I have a BA in Political Science and an MBA in Healthcare Administration. I was tired of the private sector, so I moved to an entry-level job in a local government health dept. Do I need an MPH to advance up? If I wanted to transfer to my State's DOH, will an MPH help me or just be a waste of time, considering my MBA has taught me qualitative, quantative (statistical) skills, epidemology, health policy, health econ, marketing, HR, etc.
I can get one through tuition assistance, but dont want to waste time if an MPH won't get me anywhere.
