Ahoy hoy everyone! Today my wife surprised me with the new Google Cardboard HMD created from the partnership between Google and Mattel, namely the View-Master Virtual Reality. I figured since it's so new some may have questions concerning it, so an AMA may hep others on the fence.
Ask away!
Edit: Ok here's some images of the 3 point strap harness in its current iteration. I'm not done with it yet but its fully functional right now.
Image 1 Image 2 Image 3 show the placement of the adhesive male velcro sections. I doubled up on each for a little bit of extra adjustment potential. I placed the ones on the face in their location so that the vertical strap can distribute weight of the HMD correctly, and reduce strain on the nose.
Image 4 shows the straps on the device itself (note: i have not trimmed the excess strap material yet). The store was out of strap tighteners so I had to use a buckle for now lol. The vertical strap is adjustable to make sure it can fit snugly on top of your head and remove the weight on your face. The horizontal strap I'm using right now is only temporary as It's one I had lying around. I will be replacing it with another elastic strap w/ tightener.
Image 5 Image 6 show the HMD resting on my face with the straps (Note again: I have not trimmed the excess strap material yet). With proper adjusting of the top strap it fits like a glove, and only puts like 1/10th of the strain on the front of my face.
